Meg Edgar

I did ballet from age 4, adding modern jazz as a teenager, then trained as a PE teacher, specialising in dance. Studying most dance forms, my particular interest was in ‘modern educational dance’ as it was called. Teaching took over and personal performance took a back seat, although I have always taken any opportunity to dance (ballroom, jazz, ceroc).

Retiring soon after moving to Salisbury, I had time once more to pursue my love of dance. Following a visit to Sadler’s Wells Elixir Festival in 2014, Judith and I felt inspired to enable elders in Salisbury to experience the joys of contemporary dance. We were encouraged by local dance professionals to pursue this idea, Philippa joined us, we met Vicky Thornton, a freelance dance producer, and DANCE SIX-O was born.

It’s no exaggeration to say I am fulfilling a dream to dance and at last it is taking a front seat! I feel sheer joy in seeing people getting so much from expressing themselves through dance, at this stage in life.
