I’ve always been a mover. As a toddler on a rocking horse beating time with my feet or gathering rhythm and momentum on a swing through to the crazy teenage dances of the sixties such as the Puppet and the Twist. Life to me is a dance: we weave our way in and out of all manner of situations, relationships, feelings, challenges. Reaching this age of 67, I carry within so many of those life experiences and expressing them through the movement and creativity of dance is fulfilling and joyful.
Following a visit to Sadler’s Wells Elixir Festival in 2014, Judith and Meg felt inspired to enable elders in Salisbury to experience the joys of contemporary dance. They were encouraged by local dance professionals to pursue this idea; I joined, we met Vicky Thornton, a freelance dance producer, and DANCE SIX-O was born.
